Important Dates

  • Adding or Dropping Courses: You may add or drop courses without penalty by the following deadlines (below). If you’re not certain about whether or not to enrol in a particular course, it’s better to enrol at the beginning and then drop it before the deadline, rather than miss the first class or two, and then join. Dropping a course after the Drop deadline will result in a “W” on your transcript and a partial, pro-rated refund up to six weeks, after which no refund is given. Any financial aid award you received will be re-evaluated.

  • Add/Drop Deadlines:

    • Summer 2021: June 25, 2021 (May 17, 2021 for LING 210 intersession)

    • Fall 2021: September 21, 2021

    • Spring 2022: January 19, 2022

To drop a course, follow the instructions under 2. Academic Orientation.

  • Financial Aid Deadlines: Students should complete a Financial Aid application for each semester in which they will be taking CanIL courses. Applications completed and submitted by the following dates will be reviewed shortly after the deadline and students will be notified by email of their award for that upcoming semester. Find the application here: www.canil.ca/financialaid

Write these dates in your calendar for the duration of your program! Apply by:

  • April 15th, for Summer Financial Aid

  • July 15th, for Fall Financial Aid

  • November 15th, for Spring Financial Aid

LATE APPLICATIONS: Applications submitted after these dates will be received and considered. However, if it is after the deadline, the student must request permission from the Financial Aid Committee at financial-aid@canil.ca prior to completing the application form. These applications will be processed when the committee is able and the students will be notified in due time.

COURSE CHANGES: Students are required to notify the Financial Aid Committee if any details change in their application, especially in regards to the number of courses being taken. If there are any changes, the award may be adjusted. The final award is placed in each student’s school account after the add / drop deadline. Details regarding registration are confirmed before the award is given.

TIMING OF PAYMENTS vs AWARDS: You must be aware that if you are to receive financial aid, these awards are paid into your TWU account after the Course Add/Drop date. This means that you cannot rely on these funds to cover your initial tuition payments which are required about a month before each semester begins. You must make your initial tuition payments before they are due, independent of expected financial aid.
