Study Permits
We are not certified immigration consultants, we cannot provide you with legal advice. We will share with you what we have observed from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC), please understand that it is the responsibility of the student to be diligent in researching immigration policies in relation to your studies in Canada. We advise you to always directly check the CIC website for the details pertinent to your situation, as details are constantly changing.
Summer-Only Students: You may not need a study permit because you are only taking short-term courses. Find out if you need a study permit.
Long-Term Students (Degree Programs and Training Tracks): You need a study permit to study in Canada. Please refer to this webpage for more information.
Visas and eTAs: A study permit is not a visa. A study permit grants you permission to study in Canada, while a visa grants you permission to travel to and enter Canada. Most people will need either a visa OR an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to travel to Canada, but not both. Some people may only need their valid passport. Find out if you need a visa to travel to Canada.
